Late post about a great meeting - June 19, 2010

On June 19th, Al and Kirsten hosted a wagon ride and potluck lunch at their farm, Black Bell Acres, west of Alton.

It was a hot day, but great for learning to harness and drive. Attendees included Steve Driscoll, Lora McCabe and her daughter, Ariel, Jan Ramey, her husband, Harold, and their neighbor, Allen. Diana Wallace served as photographer to document the day.

The hands-on projects included harnessing the horses to two different wagons, the light wagon which was used to demonstrate logging and the large party wagon to take everyone for a ride.

After the rides, the horses were unhitched and rinsed off.

Another ride is scheduled for October 16th. Ya'll come!

September 18, 2010 Chuckwagon Cookoff

Al and Kirsten went to the Chuckwagon Cookoff in Mountain View on September 18.
It was a nice day and pretty neat to see how meals have been prepared for cowboys in the past.

We also met folks with a nice team of Belgian draft horses. Roger Lee came down as well.

Many people enjoyed the big horses, took pictures and got wagon rides. We promoted the club, made new friends and connections.

(Pictures to be added when I get them)
